You might be thinking of "gray water" This is all the runoff water in your house, except from the toilet ("brown water.") Gray water is the output from your sinks, shower/bath, washing machine, etc. -- anything not ping through the toilets. The reason why you don't want to be using brown water is because of possible virus & bacteria content.
